Samuel Blodgett, born 10 Dec 1658 in Woburn, MA; died 05 Nov 1743 in Woburn, MA.  He was the son of 512. Samuel Blodgett and  Ruth Eggleton (Iggleden).  He married 257. Huldah Simonds 30 Apr 1682.
Huldah Simonds, born 20 Nov 1666; died 14 Mar 1745/46.  She was the daughter of  William Simonds and  Judith Hayward-Pippin.

Notes for Samuel Blodgett:
Samuel lived and died in Woburn, as did his wife, and all their children were born there. He was known in the town as "Ensign Samuel", was Selectman for some years, and was a Deputy to the General Court of Massachusetts Colony in 1729.

Children of Samuel Blodgett and Huldah Simonds are:
        i.    Samuel Blodgett, born 21 Dec 1683 in Woburn, MA; died 12 Dec 1762 in Stafford, CT; married Lydia Johnson; died 11 Sep 1763 in Stafford, CT.

Notes for Samuel Blodgett:
The town of Stafford, Connecticut, was surveyed in 1718, and its settlement begun in 1719. Among the earliest settlers and proprietors were four of the sons of Samuel and Huldah Blodgett: - Samuel, Daniel, Joshua, and Josiah. A fifth son, Benjamin, was a landowner in the town for a few years, but if he lived there he soon returned to Woburn.

ii.    Daniel Blodgett, born 24 Mar 1684/85 in Woburn, MA; died 10 Dec 1762 in Stafford, CT; married Mary Mallett 04 Apr 1709.
iii.    William Blodgett, born 11 Jan 1685/86 in Woburn, MA; died 1750 in Preston, CT; married (1) Mehitable Fenner; married (2) Sarah Hall 18 Aug 1714; born 19 Jun 1688; died 1750 in Preston, CT.

Notes for William Blodgett:
William appears to have moved about quite a bit. He served in the expedition against Canada in 1709, as it is recorded that his father (Samuel 3) petitioned the "Governor, Her Majesty’s Counsel, and Representatives of the General Court assembled, to reimburse him for expenses attending the sickness of his son William Blogget, at Watertown, while on Her Majesty’s service." He received forty shillings.
William settled in Plainfield (Conn.) in 1719 or 1720. He is, mentioned in a transfer of real estate: - "William Blogget, physician, and wife convey land in Plainfield, part commonly known as Tophet to Henry Cobb, April 30, 1719." In 1720, his credentials as a physician appear in the Plainfield town records: - "December 15, 17520 1:50p.m.
This is to certify all whom it may concern, that we the subscribers having examined William Blogget, doct’ of physic, concerning his methods in practice of Physic, and according to accounts that he gives, we find his methods to be by good authority.
In Boston by    Patrick Lynch, Doct
In Providence by    John Jasha, Pract’nr
In Rhode Island by    Oliver Arnold, Pract’nr
In Rehoboth by    Square Allen, Pract’
In Bridgewater by    Thomas Brown, Pract’
                        Jonathan Randall, Ch
                    Thomas Williams Recorder."
His skill as a physician was highly approved in Plainfield and Canterbury, though he appears to have had no formal education in the profession. His name is mentioned in several more real-estate transfers in Plainfield, in 1724, 1726, 1731and 1738, then he lived in Boston for a while, as in 1737, and again in 1739, there are records of lands conveyed to "William Blogget of Boston." But finally on "April 23, 1739, William Blogget of Preston (Conn.), Doctor, conveys to William Blogget, Jr. (his son) 160 acres of land in Preston" and in Preston some years later he died.
